The Rotary Club of Little River was Chartered on September 24, 2002 with 50 Charter members. Past District Governors Mary Martin and Craig Hill are the founders of our club. The Rotary Club of North Myrtle Beach sponsored our club. Special thanks to North Myrtle Beach members Kurt Sauer, Tom Heyward, Denise Tholen, Chris Holland, Todd Canipe President 2001-2002 and Charles Watson President 2002-2003 for their support. Nancy Moody was the District Governor and presented the Charter at the Charter Night celebration at the Surf Club.
Craig Hill named the bulletin “The Catch of the Day”, and authored it the first few years. The picture on the front is from a photo mural at Mulligan’s which was then Pat & Mike’s. Past President Kim Kingsbury took the picture. Tim McGinnis of WPDE TV coined the term “the little club with a big heart” and we have used it since. Scott Taylor created the format for the layout and the bulletin remains essentially the same to this day. Additionally, as we accumulated many District, Presidential and other awards over time, we began to call ourselves “the award winning Rotary Club of Little River”.
